The Junior League – Moon Neither Noticed or Ignored
The Junior League’s Moon Neither Noticed or Ignored is a quietly captivating offering that will resonate with anyone with a penchant for the jangle pop scene. Joe Adragna’s sound harkens back to the golden era of 1980s-90s indie pop—think Teenage Fanclub’s melodic warmth. Add chiming guitars, and bittersweet introspection and you’ve got the idea.
From the opening song, “Sunset Park”, Adragna’s songcraft shines brightly with hook-filled compositions built on layered guitars, pleasing melodies, and honest, emotive vocals. Standout tracks include jangly mid-tempo opener, the guitar crunch and hooky chorus of “A Matter of Time”, and the irresistibly catchy “Just As Long As I Have You. Production is neat and clean, preserving the charm that defines Adragna and others within his circle of cohorts, folks like Scott McCaughey or Susan Cowsill.
I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention the significant contributions of Micheal Giblln (The Split Squad) and Jay Ferguson (Sloan), most notably on “Forget Forget Me Nots”. It’s also worth noting that Ferguson and McCaughey appeared on The Junior League’s Also Rans, another stellar album.
Moon Neither Noticed or Ignored excels in consistency and craft—no filler, just killer tunes. It grows on you. This is album #10 for the band so I guess that should come as no surprise. With a release date of February 20, now is a good time to pre-order your copy at Kool Kat Musik.
