The Greenberry Woods – It’s All Good, Sugar…

Thirty years after cult classics like Rapple Dapple and Big Money Item, power pop stalwarts The Greenberry Woods return with a triumphant comeback, one that feels both nostalgic and refreshingly vital. It’s All Good, Sugar… (released May 29) delivers twelve tracks of sparkling power pop with rich harmonies and catchy melodies, reminding us why they were one of the best power pop bands of the 90’s.

Opening with “Summer Song” and its plea to “rewind… Can we go back in time?”, the band brings back that jangly, hook-laden sound we’re familiar with. Standouts like the punchy, sub-two-minute sugar rush “Waiting ‘Round For Something To Go Wrong” and the irresistible “Whenever You Want Me Too” with its Byrds-like guitars make it evident that these guys haven’t lost a step since their last proper studio LP.

Tracks like “The One That Makes You Happy,” “That Girl” (Elvis Costello swagger), and closer “December Boy” (a Big Star-referencing gem) showcase their mastery of hooks across tempos and moods.

For power pop devotees, It’s All Good, Sugar… is essential listening: bright, heartfelt, and proof that great songcraft never fades.
