Go Time! – 11
Go Time Is back again with this, their 11th album. Aptly title 11, their latest explodes with the kind of energy that defies the complacency that decades of experience often bring. Released May 1 on Kool Kat, the 15-track album finds Scott Niekelski (vocals/guitar/keys), Steve Grzenia (drums), Paul Schmidt (guitar), and Mark Marketti (bass) channeling personal challenges into vital, hook-laden anthems with raw immediacy.
Opener “Influencer” jumps off of the grooves with punk energy, setting a blistering pace. “Expectations Falling” and “What’s Stopping You” deliver chiming guitars and nostalgic 80s/70s Stones style swagger. The guys balance high-octane garage grit with melodic power-pop sensibilities with crunchy riffs, tight grooves, and gritty vocals.
Power Pop With a Punk Edge
Standouts like “Rules Don’t Apply,” with its sharp lyrics, and the atmospheric “Turn Off Your Mind” showcase the band’s musical range, to the soulful closer “Always On High.” Acoustic moments such as “Fear Of Forgetting” add a little breathing room, reflecting on memory and modern disconnection. Mark Marketti is a monster on bass, particularly in “Game of Extremes” and “Worthless Endeavor”.
Go Time’s 11 is straightforward, riff-driven rock that prioritizes melody, muscle, and real-world storytelling. For fans of classic power-pop with a post punk edge, this is essential listening. Get it at Kool Kat Musik.
