Jared Lekites – Looking For Diamonds X
This pandemic year has all of us looking at things differently – or perhaps again. With Looking For Diamonds X, it seems Jared Lekites has done exactly that. He’s revisited his 2010 EP and re-recorded each song. With the addition of 5 tracks that were available thru download only, the collection makes for an outstanding album.
Jared’s reason for re-recording these gems is simple: “For this release, I have applied all the knowledge and wisdom I have gained over the past decade. Certain lyrics were re-written, arrangements expanded, tempos altered, and some friends were invited along to help out with the instrumentation. This music is from my heart to yours and I hope you enjoy hearing it as much as I enjoyed re-creating it.”
Jared’s affinity for mid-era Beatles is immediately evident with the opener “Love That Lasts”. The title track is a bouncy little gem with handclaps and a certain sing-a-long quality that makes it irresistible. The harmonies on “Electric Car Ballet” make it an instant favorite. There’s so much here that reminds me of The Beatles and Hollies.
Other highlights include the twangy “Unrequited Love Song” and the very, very catchy “Hold Be Tight”. I’m a sucker for a harmonica.
