The New Frustrations – Lifetime
We last heard from The New Frustrations in 2017 with their killer EP entitled Dee Backle. It’s punk-pop ethos and the single “Radio Generation” were one of the highlights on that year in music. Following a familiar formula of short, punchy punk-pop tunes, they’re back with another EP entitled Lifetime.
A Dynamic Power Trio
We get maximum guitar crunch with “Don’t Let U Down”. Already getting airplay on some of the more discriminating radio shows, “Lifetime” (the title track) has the kind of drive or energy one may remember from Material Issue. MI started out as a punk-pop band, of course. And similar to MI, The New Frustrations have a dynamic, full bodied sound despite being a three piece.
“Diane (Happy Hunting)” has that same energy. The harmonies are perfect, the guitars ring and the chorus is a monster hook. “Laura” is a wonderful surprise and a little bit outside the box for these guys. On this one, The New Frustrations become a first rate bar band and the results are really fun.
