Radio Days – Rave On!
The new one from Radio Days – their first in more than five years – starts right where Back in the Day left off. Rave On! draws inspiration from the power pop bands of the past few decades with the prerequisite jangle and monster hooks you’ve come to expect from these guys.
You’ll hear the Paul Collins Beat and The Knack influences in tracks such as “I Got the Love” and “When I’m with You”. Its reminiscent of 80’s and 90’s classic power pop – short and catchy nuggets of pure pop goodness.
One of the more interesting songs on the LP, “Meltdown” has a slightly reggae or ska feel to it. The albums finishes with “Between the Lines”, sounding like a cross between Weezer and The Beatles. It’s a terrific tune and a testament to the old showbiz adage “always leave them wanting more”. I definitely do.
Radio Days’ Rave On! Is available at their Bandcamp page (digital) or on CD at Kool Kat Musik.
