Geoff Palmer – Charts & Graphs

Geoff Palmer – Charts & Graphs

The Connection were experts at the pop-punk thing The Ramones made famous. The post-Connection Palmer shows us a much more diverse palette on Charts & Graphs. This latest effort runs the gamut from pop-punk to country twang, all while emphasizing his knack for pure pop hooks.

I’ve always thought Palmer does his best work when he strays from the Ramones song template. “Many More Drugs” stays true to the old formula but from there, things get really interesting. The melodious “Tomorrow” is a winner and “The Apartment Song” is a real old school stomper that would have fit nicely on a Dave Edmunds record. “What Would Paul Westerberg Do” has a very appealing country twang to it (and great lyrics!).

As good as those tracks are, the “hit single” here is “This Monkey”. Written with Zack Sprague, “Monkey” is as catchy as anything I’ve heard in quite some time. The vocal exchanges between Palmer and Sprague are extremely effective. Its pure pop – radio friendly as all get go.

“Charts & Graphs” is the best Geoff Palmer album to date and well worth plunking down your hard earned money for. GET YOUR COPY HERE.
