Forty Nineteens – New Roaring Twenties
The Forty Nineteens are back with a follow up to 2017’s Good Fortune. The perfect anecdote for a long Covid-tinged winter, New Roaring Twenties serves notice to the world that it’s time to live again. Call it a garage rock, coming out party of sorts.
The opening track, “It’s For Fun (That’s What We’re Living For)”, is the perfect anthem to start the party off. “Tell Me” is an infectious track that starts off with a drum beat reminiscent of the Strangeloves’ classic “I Want Candy” and then launches into a story of a woman demanding to hear those magic words.
“Late Night Radio (With Tony Valentino)” pulsates with a 60’s vibe while giving us some very entertaining lyrical content. Read the news print on the hour. You don’t even need to shave or shower. “It’s The Worst Thing I Could Do” is straight up power pop and my early favorite on the album.
No one does the garage rock thing better than these guys. In fact, let’s go ahead and say it – The Forty Nineteens are American’s garage rock band. New Roaring Twenties will be officially released on April 23 but you can preorder your copy from Big Stir Records now.
