Brent Seavers – Exhibit B

Brent Seavers – Exhibit B

Back in 2021, The Decibels’ Brent Seavers released his first solo album. BS Stands For Brent Seavers was so good that it ended up as the #2 album on our end of the year “best of” list. Having mastered the sounds of the 60’s, 70’s, 80’s and even 90’s, it seems that Seavers can write a memorable pop hook in his sleep. And his lyrical content is just as strong. His latest, Exhibit B, picks up where BS left off.

Fate Gets It Wrong

The album busts out of the gate with “Roller Coaster Ride”, a slice of 60’s pop rock that’ll make you hold on tight as he sings his way through this analogy for a rough relationship. “Poetry” is another relationship song and a jangly treat. “Her” is so catchy that it’s intoxicating. A decade or two ago, this coulda been a radio hit. If life were fair, it would be today.

“The Noble Cause” is another favorite. I’m not sure if it reminds me more of Fountains of Wayne or The Dbs – but I love the track. The lyrical highlight on Exhibit B is “The Universe and I”. With lines such as Whenever I do right it seems that fate still gets it wrong. The Universe and I don’t get along, it’s easy to see why Brent’s songs are so relatable.

There isn’t a bum track in the bunch. Thirteen tracks in total, it is as satisfying a listen as anything I’ve heard so far this year. You can get your copy of Brent Seavers’ Exhibit B at Kool Kat Musik.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
