Mike Browning – Never Too Late

Mike Browning – Never Too Late

Every once in a while life gives us an unexpected, delightful surprise. Such is the case with Mike Browning‘s Never Too Late. Hanging out somewhere between surf, 60’s pop and rockabilly twang, his attention to detail, tasteful guitars and upbeat, relatable lyrics make for a highly enjoyable debut record.

There’s the spot-on harmonies and the farfisa style organ on “Hide and Seek” and “We’re Hangin’ Out”. “I Didn’t Realize I Was Lost” (co-written with the incomparable Jamie Hoover) is a delightful slice of Beatle pop. The country twang of “Watching the Lines on the Road” is one of my favorites and a wonderful diversion.

Mike Browning’s Never Too Late arrives in the nick of time.

That said, the best is saved for last. “The List” celebrates the age old tradition of the honey-do list. I can truly say that after all these years, this is the first such song of it’s kind that I’ve ever heard. And unlike the honey-do list itself, it’s a great deal of fun.

Born of life’s experiences and an encyclopedic knowledge of rock history, Mike Browning’s Never Too Late arrives in the nick of time. Never Too Late has an official release date of October 15 (this Thursday) but you can order your copy now at Apple Music and Amazon.
