YepRoc 20, Nick Lowe & New Single

This past weekend, YepRoc Records celebrated its 20th anniversary bash near the label headquarters in Carrboro, North Carolina. The two day event (three if you bought VIP passes) featured some of the finest bands signed to the label and most notably, the one and only Nick Lowe.

With Los Straightjackets as his backing band, Lowe was every bit as good as one could have hoped. His set included classics from throughout his lengthy career. We heard favorites from his Stiff Records days and some songs from the milder side of his catalog, too. Best of all, he played a brand new track that, live at least, had the energy of some of his early recording.

I’ll have this new song entitled “Tokyo Bay” ready to post on Monday of next week. In the meantime, here’s a few songs from Lowe’s set from this past Friday night. Enjoy.
