Powerpop & Garage Update: What’s New with The Heartless Devils
Back in March of 2012, The Heartless Devils treated us to a bit of their Iggy meets Ramones meets Cheap Trick sound with their highly enjoyable LP, El Diablo Sin Corazon. The disc had it all – attitude, hooks and harmonies enough to please everyone from punks to the most discerning powerpop fans.
Good news – You won’t have long to wait for something new from the band. Scott Bittner, the band’s lead vocalist and guitarist, gave us a heads-up on a couple of new releases. If you’re a fan of the Cheap Trick side of the Devils, then you’ll love their cover of “Baby Loves To Rock”, soon to be released as part of an upcoming tribute to Cheap Trick on the Zero Hour label. I don’t mind telling you, it kicks @ss.
(In my best Don Pardo announcer voice) But that’s not all…
As if that weren’t enough, The Heartless Devils will soon release a 2 song single as well. Entitled “Devil Devine” with the “B” side (if there is still such a thing) called “Move Me”, Bittner describes these singles as having a bit more of a Garage sound than we’re used to hearing from the band. “A little more Garage Rock than Power Pop but hopefully still sounds enough like us that you’ll dig it”.
Scott hinted at a few other side projects that may be released later this year as well. We’ll just have to wait and see. In any event, we’ll keep you posted as we learn more details.
