Mike Browning Shouts 60’s Sensibilities

While Mike Browning may be relatively new to the power pop scene, he certainly is prolific. In 2020, Browning gave us Never Too Late, a six-song collection of 60’s inspired tunes he wrote, performed and produced. Mike followed that up with 2021’s Class Act, a collection of (mostly) 60’s covers. Now, he gives us Another Bite at the Apple, his first full length and his most satisfying effort to date.

Maintaining a less is more mindset, Mike gives us 10 brand new originals stripped down and saturated in 60’s influenced sonic sensibilities. Right from it’s psych-guitar start, “Wishes and Kings” takes us on a musical trip (and I do mean trip) down memory lane.  

Speaking of memory lane, “Season’s of Childhood” serves to bring back those carefree days of youthful innocence. Call it a momentary lapse into daydreams and butterflies. It works so very well due to Mike’s uncanny ability to reference familiar sounds such as Season’s swirling organ parts.

The delightful “Girl from Somewhere” is the album’s clear cut, radio friendly single. Mike’s smooth and easy vocal delivery ensures that the track’s infectious melody takes center stage. It’s a front to back hook and should see considerable airplay.
