The Dollyrots – Daydream Explosion
I was first introduced to The Dollyrots back in 2007. I was driving the family minivan. My daughter and her friend were along for the ride when their favorite song, “Because I’m Awesome”, came over the airways by way of Disney radio.
Fast forward to 2019 and the Dollyrots are still going strong with Daydream Explosion. Vacillating between punk, pop and somewhere in between, they haven’t lost a step. In fact, they’ve gotten better with time.
The Ramones influenced “Animal” is your opener and a great up-tempo track to start things off. Fans of the Weezer signature sound will dig the radio friendly “In Your Face”. But it’s the closer-to power pop songs where this album shines. “Watching The Storm Go By” has an infectious melody while “No Princess” is guitar pop, pure, simple and catchy as hell.
The Dollyrots’ Daydream Explosion is available now. Get it digitally or on CD at their bandcamp page. If you’re a fan of the punk-pop sound, don’t miss this one.
