The Szuters – Sugar

The Szuters – Sugar

They don’t make ‘em like they used to, you say? Well then, you’ve never heard The Szuters. Their new album, Sugar, leans heavily on early Beatles influences right down to the harmonies and yeah, yeah yeah’s.

“Don’t Lie to Me” is a piano driven piece with a bouncy beat and catchy chorus. The Beatles influence is blatant in “Baby Don’t You Be So Blue” right down to the c’mons a la “Please Please Me”.  “She’s Coming Home To Me” is a nod to Cheap Trick with some added guitar flair and an irresistible chorus. “If You Only Knew” and “I Don’t Wanna Cry” take us back to the mid 60’s where we started.

Throughout the entirety of The Szuters’ Sugar, the harmonies are superb.

The high water point is “Good Thing”, a classic power pop song with the requisite jangle, hummable chorus and a short but sweet guitar solo.

Throughout the entirety of Sugar, the harmonies are superb and best of all, the songs are memorable and catchy as Hell. Get your copy of The Szuters’ Sugar at Apple Music or Amazon.
