Kool Kat Kristmas Vol. 3

Kool Kat Kristmas Vol. 3

It’s almost that time of year (Christmas, that is) and Kool Kat Musik has just the thing to usher in the season – Kool Kat Kristmas Vol 3. Everyone involved is on the Kool Kat label and this year’s may be the best volume yet.

Everett Almond’s “Have a Very Very Very Merry Christmas” is the ideal start with an up-tempo, festive jangle that sits just right with this listener. The Decibels hit their power-poppy stride with “Christmas Wish” and The Junior League slow things down with the lovely “Holiday Bouquet”. Kurt Baker and The Season’s Greeters give us his take on the back door Santa theme entitled “Santa’s Leavin’ Town”. This one’s a real winner.

Other standouts include the always on point Richard Turgeon with a track I can really identify with. “Skippin’ Christmas” is one of my favorite songs on volume 3. Similar can be said for Nick Frater’s “Christmas is Cancelled”. Tommy & The Rockets’ “December Snow” is more fun than an unexpected snow day off from school. The Stan Laurels “Nocha Buena” is a little different but absolutely superb. Ed Ryan’s “Noel (You’ve Gotta Sing)” is as much fun as a runaway sleigh ride.

Kool Kat Kristmas Volume 3 is a must for any power pop and/or Christmas music collector. It’s both festive and fresh which, considering the number of Christmas albums that have been generated over the years, is quite an accomplishment. It‘s important to note that $5 from the sale of every copy will be donated to The American Cancer Society.

For an early “Merry Christmas”, get the physical CD through Kool Kat Musik or get your digital copy at the Futureman/Big Stir Bandcamp page.
