Power Pop Chords: Blow Pops’ She’s a Runner
We’re going all the way back to the early 90’s for this month’s power pop chords.
Milwaukee’s The Blow Pops were one of the 90’s best power pop bands, releasing two very fine albums. Charmed, I’m Sure was chock full of jangly guitars, song-along choruses and clever arrangements. As good as their debut was, The Blow Pops’ sophomore effort was even better. Although it didn’t exactly burn up the charts, American Beauties would be viewed as an artistic triumph in time. In fact, John Borack, arguably power pop’s most respected critic, would list the album among his 200 best power pop albums of all time. “She’s a Runner” was one of my favorite songs on that album so I’ve included guitar chords for this power pop favorite below.
Some interesting notes: The band was on Get Hip Records, a great specialty label out of Pittsburgh PA. It wasn’t exclusively a power pop label as evidenced by a roster that included perhaps the world’s greatest pop-psyche band, The Green Pajamas along with a host of other incredibly talented folks. Incidentally, the band’s name has much more to do with their drug of choice than the candy lollipop we all remember as children.
Without further adieu, here’s this month’s power pop chords for “She’s a Runner”.
