Preview: Spring 2013 Live Powerpop and Rock Schedule for North Carolina

feature-scheduleWhen I moved to Greensboro, NC from the NYC area, I remember describing my new home to friends back north as a “cultural wasteland”. After having been here for close to 5 years, I don’t mind admitting my mistakes, and one of them was jumping to that very premature conclusion. The home state of Mitch Easter, The dB’s, and the Spongetones has plenty to offer in the way of live music.

This Spring’s first noteworthy show turned out to be a memorable performance by Jamie & Steve, at the Chop Shop in beautiful Charlotte NC. Below, you’ll find a Spring calendar of events that any musically well-(tar)heeled North Carolinian will not want to miss.

Additional Thoughts and Rumors:

Rumor has it that Paul Collins Beat will play Snug Harbor in Charlotte in late April. Also, from the Stars Explode website: “The band is hard at work on a new batch of songs we hope to share later in 2013. We’re writing, recording, and even thinking about doing some live online streaming concerts at some point!”
